Leicester College celebrates A-level Results!

The anxious wait for A-level learners at Leicester College is finally over this morning.The College has seen great results once again this year.

Among the success stories this morning is Kinga Kolodziej.

The 19 year-old learner who is originally from Poland is celebrating her exceptional results, because when she arrived in the UK four years ago, Kinga could speak only basic English.

After a year at a city secondary school, she enrolled on A-level courses at Leicester College in Biology, Chemistry and Psychology.

She achieved an A*in Biology, an A in Psychology and a B in Chemistry.

She said: “It has been really difficult for me but my hard work has really paid off. It took a lot of effort to achieve the grades I needed. I’m really happy with my results I can’t wait to ring my family and tell them results.”

Kinga has now secured a place at Leicester University to study Medical Genetics.

Kinga added: “I’ve had an amazing experience at Leicester College. It’s been my home for three years and I will miss my tutors who’ve supported me throughout my course, but I’m also excited about my next step. I really want to make a difference in the world, and now hopefully I can.”

April Laughton, 19 and from Anstey is also celebrating her A-level results.

She achieved an A* in Sociology, an A in Psychology and a B in English Language and Literature.

April is now set to go to Manchester Metropolitan University, where she will study for her BA degree in Sociology.

She said: “I’m so happy and relieved with my results. I genuinely expected them to be a lot worse so I had a very sleepless night.

“I’m really pleased and I’ve had excellent support from my tutors and I’ve had a wonderful time here at Leicester College.”

Samuel Jefford is another learner celebrating this morning.

Samuel is all set for a future in Biomedical Science.

The 21-year-old gained an A in Mathematics, an A in Biology and B in Physics.

He has secured a place at Manchester University where he will study Biomedical Science.

He said: “The results are great, I pretty much studied every day and I had a lot of support from my tutors. What’s great about the teaching staff here is that they cater for all the learners and are very understanding. I couldn’t have asked for better support.”

Principal of Leicester College, Verity Hancock, said: “I would like to congratulate all of our learners who have achieved such fantastic results.

“We have learners from all backgrounds and from all walks of life,  who have worked extremely hard, together with the support of their brilliant tutors,  to achieve qualifications that we know will enable them to progress to university level courses either with us or other institutions, or in their chosen careers.

“I would like to wish them all the very best for their future.”
