Electrical Installation

Electrical Installation

Our electrical installation courses are taught at levels 1, 2, and 3. From basic skills in electrical engineering (such as wiring and terminations; electrical science; and the structure of the construction industry) to the necessary qualifications to become a registered tradesperson, you can progress up through our courses before entering the workforce with a level 3 Electrical Installation Diploma. It’s also possible after this to progress to a level 4 (university level) National Certificate in Building Engineering Services or Construction.

Who are Leicester College’s electrical installation courses for?

Our electrical installation courses are suitable both for school leavers as well as adult learners with some experience in the industry. The appropriate level for you will be decided based on your prior qualifications, work experience and age. Many learners stay with us for two or more years to develop their skills to the required level for employment. If you are aged 16 to 18 and don’t yet have your English and maths at grade 4 (C) or above, these subjects will continue to be an essential part of your study programme. All courses are designed to give you the skills and knowledge needed to enter work in the electrical industry.

Further Information

Work experience will form an essential part of your course. You will be required to purchase personal protective equipment, a toolkit and stationery. Site visits and trips to trade shows form part of the vocational enrichment of the course. All courses involve a mixture of practical and theoretical assessment. You will pass the course by demonstrating your skills both in exams as well as in your practical work.
