Beauty Therapy & Make-up

Beauty Therapy and Make-Up

A choice of beauty therapy and make-up courses are available with us, from level 1 right up to degree level. Most level 1 learners stay on to complete a level 2 course with us.

We have our own beauty salons at our Freemen’s Park Campus, which are open to the public, so as well as learning in a classroom you will get to put lessons into practice, all under the supervision of industry experienced tutors.

If you are on the beauty therapy and hairdressing courses at Leicester College you will work and train alongside industry-experienced experts in our commercial salon environment.

Who are Leicester College's beauty therapy and make-up courses for?

Our courses are suitable both for school leavers as well as older people and/or those with some experience in the industry. The appropriate level for you will be decided based on your prior qualifications and work experience – many learners stay with us for two or more years to develop their skills to the required level for employment. If you are aged 16 to 19 and don’t yet have your English and maths at grade 4 (C) or above, these subjects will be an essential part of your study programme. All courses are designed to give you the skills and knowledge needed to work as a professional beauty therapist or make-up artist.

Further Information

Work experience will form an essential a part of your course, and you may be required to purchase personal protective equipment, a toolkit, technical drawing equipment and stationery. All courses involve a mixture of practical and theoretical assessment – that is to say, you will pass the course by demonstrating your skills both in exams as well as in your work.
