Leicester College has been awarded a Highly Commended College Rosette (the highest level awarded to colleges) and Gold Accreditation for providing high quality training for hospitality from leading industry body, the Hospitality Guild. This means the College will also be awarded Centre of Excellence status by People 1st.

The College was awarded silver in 2014 and improved to get to gold in 2015 and has remained at this standard.

In addition to the classroom-based training, Leicester College offers students the opportunity to get experience working in a real restaurant through its taste restaurant, which has been given an AA College Rosette Award.

The College’s hospitality department was commended for its professional service to both students and employers as well as delivering a high standard of provision.

Membership Operations Manager, Andy Doyle said:

“The People 1st accreditation system recognises and celebrates excellence in the delivery of training and qualifications, and brings together employers and providers in partnership to help raise the professionalism of the hospitality industry.

“As an existing member of our provider network it is great to see Leicester College continue to maintain such a high standard, utilising some great links with industry to support them in training the next generation of chefs and front of house staff.  This is reflected by the awarding of the Highly Commended AA College Rosette for Taste Restaurant – the highest accolade available for college training restaurants from AA Hotel Services, something the lecturers and learners should all be immensely proud of. “

Leicester College is one of three College’s awarded the Gold Accreditation within the Midlands and the only one within East Midlands.

Dave Thomas, Programme Area Manager for Hospitality and Leisure says:

“To be awarded the Highly Commended College Rosette alongside the Gold award is extremely exciting. The students and staff work extremely hard to provide quality food with the best service and the awards are a credit to them all.”

In addition to the classroom-based training, Leicester College offers learners the opportunity to get experience working in a real restaurant through its taste restaurant, which has been given an AA College Rosette Award.

Lisa Smith, Director of Hospitality and Leisure says:

“We are delighted and honoured to receive such a prestigious award and I feel that it is well deserved by all of the Hospitality team. They work tirelessly across the area ensuring the highest standard of service and quality for all of our customers, and also ensure that our learners have an outstanding experience and journey.”

The team are also excited to announce that they have been shortlisted for the Professional services team of the year award at the TES FE Awards 2018.
