Further Education, Post 16 Training & Higher Education Qualifications

Here at Leicester College, we offer a comprehensive range of further education courses and post 16 training, in support of technical, vocational and higher education qualifications across a broad range of subject areas, including ESOL, from post 16 entry to university level to around 13,000 students, who range in age from 14 to 75.

Verity Hancock, PrincipalA welcome message from our Principal – Verity Hancock

At Leicester College, we are proud to be a thriving, modern and diverse place to study. Students of all ages and backgrounds are represented here: our youngest students come here one a day a week from school to study vocational qualifications alongside their GCSEs, while our oldest student recently celebrated her 100th birthday.

From entry-level courses to degree-level study, we serve all sections of our community: whether you want to take an evening course to get a taste of something new, get an Access diploma to go to university, or study full time on one of our vocational courses, we can help you realise your ambitions.

So whether you are a school leaver, a mature learner, or an apprentice, there is a place for you here. We are proud of everyone who is part of Leicester College.

De Montfort University Associate College

We are an Associate College of De Montfort University and work with the University to provide pathways to degree level in many subject areas following study at Leicester College. Significantly, students successfully completing our International Foundation Programmes (IFPs) will be entitled to automatic progression to a relevant De Montfort University undergraduate (Bachelor’s degree) programme. Of course our IFPs can also lead to enrolment in higher education courses at any UK university.

Quality Teaching and Learning

Our excellent facilities and expert teaching provide our students with the knowledge, skills and experience to be a leader in their chosen field, opening doors to employment and further education. With smaller class sizes than most universities, studying with us means you receive more personalised attention and support from our teaching staff.

  • Leicester College achieved 94% overall satisfaction in the National Student Survey for Higher Education in 2016
  • Leicester College delivers its university level education to a good standard with some excellent teaching and resources (confirmed by the UK Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) for Higher Education in 2016)

We have some very well known alumni, who have excelled in their chosen careers: for example, celebrity fashion designer and TV presenter Gok Wan studied at Leicester College, as did Aaron Patterson, the Head Chef at Hambleton Hall, who studied Culinary Arts at Leicester College and won his first Michelin Star at age 23.
