Sport and Fitness

Whether you’re interested in teaching PE, coaching, exercise, fitness or sport science, we have the courses to enable you to be a part of these exciting professions. With the opening of the new Morningside Arena, in partnership with Leicester Riders at our Abbey Park Campus and our own dedicated lottery funded Sports Maker, we can offer extensive access to excellent facilities.

Who are Leicester College’s Sport and fitness courses for?

Our sport and fitness courses are suitable for both school leavers as well as older people and/or those with a bit of experience in the industry already. The appropriate level for you will be decided based on your prior qualifications and work experience – many learners stay with us for two or more years to develop their skills to the required level for employment. If you are aged 16 to 19 and don’t yet have your English and maths at grade 4 (C) or above, these subjects will be an essential part of your study programme. All courses are designed to give you the skills and knowledge needed to work in the sports and fitness industry.

Our courses are available from level 1 to level 5. We offer Sport diplomas which enhance your knowledge of the sport and active leisure industry and develop your skills for the industry including sports coaching. We also offer a Fitness instructing diploma and a personal training diploma. On top of that we also offer courses specialised in football and basketball. Our highest levelled course is a foundation degree in sport and exercise science, on this course you’ll learn about sport science, anatomy and physiology, fitness testing, psychology and nutrition.
