Harry Dalby Engineering Ltd are offering the chance for a candidate to take part in a Service Engineer Apprenticeship. The successful candidate will initially spend time within our wiring/lifts section at our premises. During this time they will be shown how to wire electrical components including control panels, lighting boards and burner units.

What will the apprentice be doing?

Your role will include (not limited to):

  • How to mechanically assemble lifting platforms and masts, as well as wiring.
  • Understand basic knowledge of servicing equipment on site.
  • Quality checking and adjusting components or assembly against required specifications; for example testing and calibrating.
  • Handing over completed components or assembly, this may include storage and commissioning.
  • Re-instating work area and equipment.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • You will complete an Advanced Level 3 Apprenticeship in Engineering Fitter.
  • You will also complete the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering diploma.
  • You will attend college one day per week at our Abbey Park campus.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

  • Once you have completed your apprenticeship you can progress onto a HNC programme or full-time employment.

What will the apprentice be doing?

The Apprentice Dental Nurse role will require you to support your colleagues in providing an excellent service to all our patients.

Your duties would typically include the following:

  • Assisting the Dentist chair side during clinical procedures
  • Keeping the clinical areas and all equipment and instruments clean, tidy, and sterile
  • Ensuring the best care and welfare of patients
  • Accurately completing patient clinical records as directed
  • Ensuring adequate stock of materials and other items within the surgery
  • Ensuring computer/written records are accurately maintained and securely stored
  • Liaising with reception to ensure smooth patient communications and transfer of records
  • Answering phone calls when directed

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

You will complete an advanced level 3 apprenticeship standard.

You will attend college one day every two weeks. This will be at Leicester College Freemens Park Campus.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Once you complete this apprenticeship you can progress in to university or a full time career

  • Understand the common component names section descriptions (beam, column, channel, plate, round hollow, square hollow, angle)
  • Be aware of the basic material grades and various sizes of materials used
  • Know the basics of quality documents and reporting systems

Other mandatory qualifications:

  • Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge) – Level: 3

The natural career progression following the successful completion of this apprenticeship is demi chef de partie and chef de partie. With more years of experience and training, they can become future sous, head or executive chefs.
