Forest Road Dental Practice are delighted to announce we have a vacancy for a new Dental Nurse Apprentice at our surgery. The ideal candidate must be ever the professional in their approach to work, enthusiastic, a good team player, have the ability to work on their own initiative, good telephone manner and exceptional communication skills and be able to work under pressure in a busy private dental practice.

The successful applicant will be working towards gaining a Diploma in Dental Nursing qualification. This will be achieved by completing all aspects of the Oral Health Advanced Apprenticeship Programme.

The Apprentice Dental Nurse role will require you to support your colleagues in providing an excellent service to all of our patients.

Your duties would typically include the following:

  • Providing chairside assistance to the Dentist/Hygienist in all their dental procedures in a safe and effective manner
  • To ensure that all cross-infection procedures are carried out in all work undertaken by the practice and to immediately report any breach of such controls or any example of bad practice
  • To assist with reception or any clerical duties as required
  • To take care for his/her own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by his/her acts or omissions at work
  • Keeping the clinical areas and all equipment and instruments clean, tidy and sterile as appropriate according to the practice’s health and safety and infection control procedures and manufacturers’ instructions
  • Using all equipment and machinery in accordance with manufacturers’ recommendations and ensure that they are maintained regularly and in good working order
  • Ensure the care and welfare of patients
  • Accurately complete patient clinical records as directed
  • Handle all substances in accordance with health and safety policies
  • Complete laboratory request forms, keep records of work sent, received and fitted
  • Ensure adequate stocks of materials and other items within the surgery
  • Ensure computer/written records are accurately maintained and securely stored
  • Liaise with reception to ensure smooth patient communications and transfer of records
  • Attend and participate in practice meetings
  • Undergo training as may be required to develop skills and abilities
  • Act in accordance with the practice rules and code of conduct
