Local offer

From the Children’s and Families Act (2014) came the new SEND reforms and under these reforms came the SEN Code of Practice which tasked local authorities with developing an information bridge between public services (Education, Health & Social Services) and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and their families.

The Local Offer is this bridge of information which allows potential learners with SEND and their families to see what is on offer from each provider.

Leicester College is committed to providing the highest standards of support to learners who have a disability or learning difficulty.

Leicester College has always taken an active part in developing programmes and provision for all learners, and we are keen to support and listen to the needs of our learners and their families. The College also works closely with Leicester City Council and Leicestershire County Council regarding our SEND provision.

Along with other colleges and in collaboration with the local authorities, we have produced a format that all colleges in Leicester and Leicestershire will use. This information will make it easier for young people and families to compare what’s on offer and make informed decisions on what they want from post-16 education.
