First Aid & Health & Safety

First Aid and Health and Safety

First aid and health and safety qualifications are essential for many people in their everyday working lives. Holding such qualifications can help you get a new job, or can help you progress in your current one. All workplaces are required by law to have a qualified first-aider, and in some industries further qualifications are needed too – for example if you work with the public, or if you serve food. We also offer community courses for people who want to brush up on their first aid or safe food preparation skills.

Who are Leicester College’s First Aid and Health and Safety Courses For?

Many people on these courses will be sent by their employers to gain the necessary qualifications for their workplace. Others may be self-employed, considering setting up their own business in the future, or keen to improve their knowledge for use at home. Our courses are part-time and are designed to fit around other commitments. You can study general health and safety at levels 1 and 2, food safety at levels 1 and 2, and emergency first aid as well as basic first aid. All of these courses teach important skills for keeping yourself and others safe and well.

Further information

Many of these courses are free or offered at a low cost, meaning you will only have to commit your time to earn an important qualification. Food safety awards are available with a professional catering or private home focus – you can choose which option is right for you when you enrol. You can also take a course in food safety supervision, which can develop your career prospects.
