Leicester College’s new dance group Artus was incredibly privileged to win Leicester Mercury’s competition to meet Diversity, at The Leicester Music Festival on Friday 25 July 2014.

The College’s exciting new dance group met the Britain’s Got Talent winners back stage during the inaugural year of Leicester’s new music festival.
It was an incredible opportunity for the College’s dance group to meet their dancing heroes face-to-face.

BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma Dance and an original member of the College’s Artus group, learner Lauren Leggett was really pleased to have had the opportunity to meet the group.

She said “Being part of the dance group, Artus, has been great. We are now entering competitions, and receive extra dance training from the College. One of the highlights of being part of the dance group is that we also have the opportunity to dance with learners from different dance courses and years at the College. It is really exciting. It was an added bonus to meet Diversity, a professional dancers that we look up to.”

Lara Walczak, Dance Lecturer at Leicester College “To be able to support Artus to meet another incredibly successful and nationally recognised dance group, like Diversity, is a unique opportunity. It is incredibly powerful meeting professional dancers, because our learners have a shared understanding of not only the talent but the hard work and practise required to achieve Diversity’s success.

“It was an incredible day at the Leicester Music Festival, and I look forward to Leicester College’s dance group working together and achieving such successes.”
