Leicester College will be holding a Higher Education Graduation Ceremony on Saturday 7 November 2015, with a total of 316 learners graduating from the College this year.

The HE graduation ceremony will take place at the Abbey Park Campus where the graduands will collect their robes, and will walk in a procession to The Empire where they will be addressed by Principal of Leicester College, Verity Hancock and then presented their certificates by Vice Principal, Kully Sandhu.

This year’s Leicester College Honorary Award will be presented to Rob Paternostro, Head Coach of the Leicester Riders Basketball team.

Rob has had a long and hugely successful career culminating in his time at the Riders, through which Leicester College has come to know him. He is Leicester Riders’ most successful coach, with two British Basketball League Coach of the Year trophies to his name for 2008/9 and 2012/13.

In addition Rob’s collaborative work between the Riders and Leicester College supporting young people in sports-focused education is providing more opportunities for young people to access education and sport.

The creation of the Community Sports Arena which is due for completion in January 2016 will become the new permanent home of the Riders and regional basketball centre of excellence. Rob’s commitment and support for this project has been essential.

Rob said: “I am absolutely delighted with this honour from Leicester College, which is really a tribute as much to my players and the whole of the Rider’s organisation.”

“I am particularly pleased to be receiving this from the College, who are important partners to the Riders in the Community Sports Arena project, which is making great progress at Charter Street.”

“The Arena will be an absolutely superb asset for all the Project Partners and the City, and I look forward to working with the College to use the Arena facilities to inspire and greatly increase sports participation amongst College students.”
