Leicester Apprenticeship Hub held its first apprenticeship graduation ceremony on Thursday 18 June 2015 at De Montfort Hall.

Apprenticeship Graduation

One hundred and sixty Leicester College apprentices graduated on the day – professions varied from customer services, beauty therapy through to construction.

The ceremony was hosted by BBC East Midlands Today’s Dominic Heale and Geeta Pendse and kicked off with inspirational speeches by City Mayor Sir Peter Soulsby and Melody Hossaini of InspirEngage International (also known for her appearance on BBC’s ‘The Apprentice’).

The Graduation also celebrated graduates from various other college’s and training providers from around the city.

Leicester College Principal, Verity Hancock said:

“We are so pleased to see so many Leicester College apprentices graduate today and be given the recognition they deserve for all they have achieved.”

“Our aim as a College is to continue support local businesses to recruit apprentices but also help potential apprentices find placements that suit them with the aim that both secure long term employment in the future.”

Leicester College apprentice Tamara Herbert also took away the award for ‘Leicester City Council Housing Apprentice of the year’ for all her hard work within the housing team in the Council and also volunteering her time holding ‘Women in Construction taster sessions on behalf of Leicester Council at Leicester College.

Leicester College Performing Arts learners completed the ceremony with a joyful impromptu performance from ‘Godspell’, a great tribute to all the achievements of the apprentice’s over the last year.
