“It was really quite unexpected so I am really pleased with the win.”

Christopher added: “My inspiration behind the picture was essentially trying to portray how the barriers against ethnic segregation are now broken. The idea came to me during an earlier photo shoot which I did during my course at the College.

“I am really proud of our win. Kieron and I cleaned out the competition together. We both work together all the time so it’s great to see us both get a slice of the pie. Kieron’s win is very well deserved.”

Talking about their success, Paul O’Leary, Photography Lecturer at Leicester College, said: “The Photography Department strive to give our learners real life industrial experience. Kieron and Chris have proved that they can compete at the highest level. We hope this recognition will give them both confidence to succeed with their career.”

The annual competition for photography learners continues to attract hundreds of entries from education establishments throughout the UK. The number and quality of entries grows year on year.

Steven Brierley, Director of Sales & Marketing at HARMAN said, “It always fascinates us in the way that learners show their interpretation of the competition theme. This year was no exception to that. From the vast number of entries there was a wide variety of thought and ideas presented.

As well as their titles the winners received an awards certificate and £150 to spend at harmanexpress.com, and the winning images mounted and framed by ILFORD LAB DIRECT.
