Two Leicester College student business advisors have been presented with an award by Dragons’ Den star Peter Jones.

Louise Jones and Rupinder Drew have been declared the joint Business Enterprise Manager of the Year.

The women are part of the team that runs the Peter Jones Enterprise Academy at the college.

They were chosen for the honour having been nominated by their students.

They were presented with the prize by Peter Jones at a ceremony at Freemasons’ Hall in London on July 2.

Rupinder, 41, of Sibson, said: “I am absolutely delighted to have won this award. Every year you hope that it might be you and it’s amazing that this year we were chosen.

“The award means a lot to me as it represents how well we’ve worked as a team, but also how we’ve each developed our own skills too.”

Louise, 48, said: “I feel very honoured to receive this award – we’ve had our eyes on it for three years now and this year was obviously our year. It’s great to be recognised for a job I love.”

Both Rupinder and Louise started at the college in May 2012 and have been working together ever since.

While the Rupinder previously worked in publishing and social enterprise, Louise was PA to successful businesswoman Rosemary Conley CBE for 15 years, before starting her own business.

They were presented the accolade during the Peter Jones Enterprise Academy’s graduation ceremony in front of hundreds of students and teachers from colleges across the country.

Peter Jones Foundation chief executive Alice Barnard said: “Louise and Rupinder’s commitment to their students is amazing.

“They work very well as a team and are always looking for fresh ways to enrich the unique learning experience provided by the Peter Jones Enterprise Academy.

“They have sourced an inspiring range of industry experts to come in and speak to students throughout the year and are thoroughly deserving of this extra recognition.”
