Leicester West MP, Liz Kendall visited the Leicester College Abbey Park Campus on Friday 9 December to talk to the Level 3 Uniformed Public Services (UPS) learners about her role in politics, as well as her role and responsibilities as an MP.

MP Liz Kendall said:

“Young people often don’t have a voice in politics. I see it as my job to talk to people and show them what politics is really like. More importantly to hear what do young people really want. There is a strong sense that politics has to do more to understand young people, and that is something that I will take away with me from the College after speaking to the learners.”

As part of the UPS course the learners cover Government and Policies. MP Liz Kendall helped learners understand what a day in the life of an MP looks like and what her responsibilities are to her constituents.

UPS Learner, Richard Duffus said:

“Politics is something I take an interest in. It’s the first time I have spoken to an MP. It was great to be given the opportunity to question Liz Kendall and hear her responses.”
