Engineering & Manufacturing

Engineering and Manufacturing

Our engineering courses are available at levels 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5, offering everything from level 1 BTECs for those aged 16-18 to Access courses and foundation degrees. It’s also possible to specialise in computer systems, electronics, manufacturing, aeronautical, mechanical, electromechanical, production, and technical support engineering, as well as fabrication and welding.

Who are Leicester College's engineering courses for?

The level 1 Engineering BTEC Diploma is designed exclusively for school leavers aged 16 to 18, while our other courses can be taken by learners of all ages (subject to meeting the entry requirements, which vary by level). When you apply for an engineering course with us, we can help you find the level and type of course that’s right for you, based on your previous qualifications and experience. Learners aged 16-19 will follow a study programme which will include work experience as well as GCSE or functional skills English and maths if you don’t already have your grade C/4.

Further Information

Some courses involve industrial trips or visits to enhance the curriculum, which will incur an extra cost. You may need to purchase boots and overalls for your practical lessons, and level 3 courses and above require the use of a scientific calculator and enough time to study quietly at home.
