On the evening of Wednesday 6 June 2016, a mixture of first and second year culinary arts students took part in the Waiter/ess of the year Competition in taste restaurant at Freeman’s Park Campus.

This year the competition was sponsored by the Belmont House Hotel, Ragdale Hall Health Hydro and Spa and The Case Restaurant.

Each student had to serve a table of 4 or more guests a three-course meal with coffee and a bottle of wine. They were judged throughout the meal on their standards of mise en place, order of service, customer care, general skills and abilities and personal presentation.

Two of the judges were previous students who had completed a level 3 food service supervisory course and since then gained jobs at Ragdale Hall and The Case Restaurant.

The judges were very impressed by the skills of all the students and commented on the high standard of service skills shown during the event.  The evening was a great success.
