The course is at St Margaret’s Campus running every Wednesday 18:00 – 20:30 for 9 weeks. This is a hobby course and is designed as an introduction to the skills required to make new garments or alterations to garments. It is a short course and you work specifically on one project decided by you.

What You'll Learn

Year 1

The sessions are run as small workshop groups and the tutor will provide you with 1:1 support to enable you to complete your garment. Topics covered will depend on what you are working on. Pattern cutting, pleats, hems, zips and buttons could all be part of your program if needed. Complete beginners are welcomed and will be shown how to use a sewing machine and follow a simple pattern.

Entry Requirements

You must be aged 19+ and be able to complete a short workbook on a weekly basis with the help of your tutor.

How you will be assessed

This is a workshop-based course where you will be developing skills and techniques necessary to complete your garment making project guided by a tutor. At the start of the course, you will decide with your tutor your personal targets for the course. Your targets will be unique to you and your project.
