Introduction to Cloud Computing – C8150

Explore the core concepts of cloud computing and how it has transformed the delivery of IT services and learn about relevant platforms including Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, Oracle or AWS with this introduction to cloud computing course.

Discover how the internet becomes the conduit for data and various IT services, including storage, printing, and server facilities, making traditional on-premises network environments a thing of the past, and examine the fundamental differences between traditional networking and cloud computing.

Year 1

During this course you will develop an understanding of the different aspects of using cloud tools, such as OneDrive for Business as a cloud-based storage solution that allows you to store, share, and collaborate on files from anywhere, on any device. You will create a folder for each of your tasks and set the appropriate access levels for each folder. You will also create subfolders within each folder to organize your files. People can access the files from their personal devices using the OneDrive for Business app or web interface.

You are required to have at least a level 2 or GCSEs grade 4 (C) or above in English and maths.

You will be assessed on using OneDrive and its features.

This workshop serves as a stepping stone into attaining level 4 modules in Cloud Computing as part of the Higher Technical Qualification (HTQ) in Network Engineering, and is designed to enable you to demonstrate the knowledge, skills, behaviours and employability skills necessary to attain the HTQ (Higher Technical Qualification) status recognised by employers.

Apply online via the College website. You will be contacted to attend an interview if required, or you will be sent a conditional offer according to the entry requirements for the course. You will then be invited in to enrol for your chosen course of study.
