Supported and Inclusive Learning
Our goal is to enable students to achieve their fullest potential, equipping them with the tools and confidence needed for fulfilling, independent lives.
All our fully trained staff work to the highest standards. They care, teach, and support students. This helps students build confidence and independence in adult life. Students build life skills, social skills, and teamwork in a supportive setting.
We offer personalised learning plans. They foster a nurturing, safe space for exploration and challenge. Hands-on activities and real-world experiences help students apply their skills meaningfully. Our collaborative approach promotes teamwork, communication, and mutual respect.
We provide specialist provision for young people who have learning difficulties and disabilities We have two different pathways to ensure that everyone’s needs are met.
Both pathways offer support in lots of different ways, including:
transition visits before you start College
meet and greet in the mornings
helping you find your bus / taxi at the end of the day
support in lessons
support in break times / with social times or in the canteen
communication support
personal care
equipment and resources
support for personal study
support at your work placement.
We will work with you to plan your support. It will be as much or as little as you need.
There are no minimum entry requirements for any of the pathways if you want to learn. We will meet you to decide which pathway is right for you.
Work Skills introduces young people with inclusion needs into further education. It will help you to develop confidence, independence and work-based skills. The aim is to enable you to move into employment and/or further education.
During your time studying with us, you will make friends. You will also become involved in wider college activities.
You will work on the reading, writing, maths, and communication skills that you need for a working life. You might also work towards maths and English qualifications.
We aim for everyone to leave us with a plan for their next steps. This may be going into work, volunteering, or moving onto another area within the college.
This pathway is a great introduction into college life. You will develop social skills, build friendships and learn about studying in further education. All of the work we do is built around your personal goals/EHCP outcomes. To make sure this happens we plan a programme with you based on what you want and need to learn.
You will learn about many topics and experience different situations. This could include health and fitness, enterprise, food, art, gardening, or music.
You will also continue to develop your maths and English skills.
Everything we do is geared to help you reach your full potential. We want our students to lead a fulfilling and independent life, and be confident to participate in wider society.
We work with students who have complex medical needs, sensory impairment, or major developmental delays. We help them to be meaningfully involved in their own lives.
We work with students with complex medical needs, sensory impairment, or severe developmental delays. We aim to meaningfully involve them in their own lives.
We achieve this by developing communication, interactions, and interpersonal skills. Everything is built around your personal goals, aspirations and EHCP outcomes.
Our goal is to create personalised programmes. We work with you to put together a programme based on what you want and need to learn, based on prior learning.
Students learn to use assistive technologies, that are appropriate to them.
Ultimately, we help students and families make meaningful choices for their future.
We want all our students to be as well as possible. We know that many young people may struggle with their mental health and wellbeing. We work with you to encourage you to be involved in lots of different types of activities to help you to stay well. This includes physical activities, crafts, computing and group tutorials.
It's important to us that everyone is safe and supported while at college. You will have an allocated key worker, and they will meet with you regularly. As part of the study programmes, you will learn about various topics. These topics will help you build your potential and support each other. This all happens in a safe environment.
The Local Offer is a one-stop resource. It outlines services for children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and their families.
It is managed by the local authorities. It details educational and healthcare services. It also covers social care and other networks. They aim to meet the unique needs of children and young people with SEND.
We are committed to providing the highest quality of support to our student with SEND. We work closely with Leicester City and Leicestershire councils. This ensures our SEND offer meets local needs.
Students join us from a number of areas. However, we mostly work with Leicester City Council and Leicestershire County Council. Details of their local offer can be found below.
