How to Apply

Careers Advice

Before you apply for a course at Leicester College we recommend that you speak to a careers advisor – either at your school or an independent specialist. They will be able to make sure you make the right choices based on your ultimate career aims.

How to Apply

School leavers

If you’re in Year 11 and still at school, your school may set you up with an account on PS16. You can apply via PS16 or find the right course for you and press apply on the course page.

Deadlines

Applications received by 31 January will be guaranteed a place at the college. We will try our best to offer a place on the chosen course but sometimes we may have to offer an alternative course. Offers are subject to meeting the following conditions:

  • Attend a welcome event (if invited)

  • Provide any information we request

  • Meet the entry requirements

From 1 February to 30 June, we still welcome applications, but when there is high demand for courses, we will prioritise people who have applied by 31 January.

From 1 July onwards people can still apply but the application will not be processed until our main enrolment has been completed and all previous applications dealt with.

Applicants will only be able to see the progress of their application through our Learner Hub system. Each applicant will be set up an account and will be emailed to verify their account. We will then process this setup and email/text applicants directly, as necessary.

What is PS16?

PS16 is an online prospectus and application system for young people to apply to school sixth forms, colleges and training providers and is used by many schools around Leicester and Leicestershire in order to help school leavers apply for the next steps in their education. If you are leaving school and need to apply for college please speak to your school careers advisor who will help you get your application in via PS16.

Please note there are some schools who do not use this system. If you are from any of these schools you will need to apply via our website by searching for your chosen course.

Higher education

If you are applying for a full-time university level course you should apply via UCAS For part-time university level you can apply by finding your course and clicking the apply button on the course page.

Adults

For all adult courses – full-time, part-time or short courses – you can view our courses and press apply on the course page. Note that some courses will enable you to enrol and pay straight away as they do not require qualification checks and confirmation.

No matter what type of study you are thinking about we are here to help you. If you are unsure about what course to apply for you can contact our independent careers team.

If you would prefer some help, pop into any of our city centre campuses and our helpful Information Centre teams can support you to complete the application form or call us on 0116 224 2240.

Remember: Applying for one of our courses is not a guarantee of a place.

Once we receive your application, you will be contacted by a member of our Admissions Team to advise you on the next steps.

EUSS

If you aren’t a UK citizen and are from the EU or European Economic Area (EEA) we have to confirm your residential status through the European Union Settlement Scheme (EUSS).

What happens next?

Once you've decided on the course you'd like to apply for, clicking the "apply" icon will take you to our new Learner Hub, where you'll create an account. This Hub will manage your application and enrolment process and communications from start to finish. You will need to ensure the email address is correct and check this regularly as we will be sending all communications out via email.

After registering, you’ll be able to view the course you're applying for and the next steps in the process. This includes completing and submitting your application. Once submitted, your application will be assessed based on the entry requirements, and you’ll receive an instructions on how to complete setting up your account and what information you will need to supply.

The Learner Hub will guide you through the next stages, such as booking a welcome event or interview, if required.

Once you submit your application it will go through the following stages:

Stage One: Your application will be assessed by the admissions team.

Stage Two: You will receive an email instructing you to log in to your Learner Hub to book a date to attend a welcome event or interview.

Stage Three: Attend the welcome event and interview.

Stage Four: If your application has been successful you will receive a conditional place on the course. You will have to accept the offer.

Stage Five: You will receive an email to log back into the Learner Hub to complete the course enrolment and get your start date.

Note: Some courses will enable you to go straight to enrol, this is because these do not require interview or additional assessment before starting the course.

Admissions appeal form

If you are not happy with the College’s decision on your admission on a course, you can appeal by completing the form.

Please note that appeals will not be considered where the reason for refusing a place is based solely on the applicant not meeting the entry criteria for the course…

Please read our Admissions Policy for more information.
