Sexual Harassment and Misconduct

Your safety and wellbeing matters to us. We promise to create a supportive and welcoming space for every student.

If you've faced sexual misconduct, we’re here to listen and support you. We can help you make informed choices. Reporting an incident can feel difficult, but we’re here to help you. You can reach out whenever you're ready.

If you need to report an incident, you should call the Safeguarding Team on 07725 175729. Or you can email safeguarding@leicestercollege.ac.uk.

What is sexual misconduct?

This is any sexual behavior related to sex or gender that you haven’t agreed to. It may make you feel disrespected or degraded. It could even make you feel unsafe. Even if the person doing didn't mean to, it is still not acceptable.

How to report an incident

You can talk to any staff member at the college about safeguarding incidents. Everyone is trained to help you. They will work with the Safeguarding Team to get advice on what next steps to take and how best to support you.

You can also speak to the Safeguarding team by calling 07725 175729. If you prefer to write down what has happened, you can send an email to safeguarding@leicestercollege.ac.uk.

No matter how you share, we will handle the information carefully. We will discuss your options and what comes next. We can't guarantee confidentiality. However, we promise to share information only with those who need to know to help you. At the college, we have to keep everyone safe. Sometimes, we need to share information with agencies like the police or social care. But we will explain carefully what is happening.

You can find more about how we manage sexual misconduct disclosures by reading our Sexual misconduct policy.

Relationships with staff

Our Staff Code of Conduct does not allow intimate relationships between students and staff. We are clear that this will never be appropriate. Sometimes, an adult student may enrol who already has a relationship with a staff member. The HR team and the line manager will handle this carefully. We know staff hold a position of trust and power. Our code of conduct clearly shows how they should act. If you have any concerns about staff conduct, you should speak to a member of the safeguarding team.
