If terms like white balance, resolution, pixels, aperture, or shutter speed confuse you, this course is perfect for you. Designed for adults aged 19 and over, it will help you learn the basics of digital photography and build your confidence using cameras and editing software.
Leicester College has a long tradition of teaching digital photography, printing, design, and online editing. You’ll get hands-on experience in our professional studios, darkrooms, and digital editing suites, with expert guidance from our teaching staff as you complete assignments and develop your skills.
This 7-week part-time course runs on Wednesday evenings from 6–9 pm at St Margaret’s Campus.
This workshop aims to give you confidence in using a digital camera, downloading your images and digitally outputting your work. You will be able to use your camera both in the studio and on location. You will require your own Digital SLR or standard camera during sessions. We can adapt our delivery to different makes and types. You will be given one or two basic briefs/tasks to work on.
No formal qualifications required, however, you will benefit if you have some previous experience and a keen interest in photography. You will require your own Bridge, Mirrorless or DSLR camera.
- Annual Tuition fee: £75
An SD card and your own digital camera is required.
After completing the studio certificate, you can move on to other courses. Options include the Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Photography or other similar digital qualifications. If you finish successfully, you could even go on to a foundation degree in Photography. Leicester College also offers other courses like Introduction to Adobe Photoshop and Advanced Adobe Photoshop to help you build your skills.
Apply online via the College website. You will be contacted to come into College if required, or you will be sent a conditional offer according to the entry requirements for the course. You will then be invited in to enrol for your chosen course of study. For enrol and pay courses: Once you have decided to take the course, you need to fill in a short student details form online and pay the course fee.
