Frequently asked questions about enrolment
What is enrolment?
Enrolment is the last thing you need to do to make sure you have a place at Leicester College. It is for people who have already applied to study with us. Once you have completed your enrolment your place at Leicester College is confirmed.
If you haven’t applied yet you can still make an application. Take a look at our courses and then click on the apply now button to start your application. You can also come along to Walk-in Wednesday to apply and enrol in one place.
We will send details to you on how to finish your enrolment by email. This will be sent to the email address you gave us when you applied. If it has changed, then you should let us know using the Learner Hub or contacting us info@leicestercollege.ac.uk.
You will also need to pay any fees or other things such as kit or equipment costs when you enrol. You can do this is person or online. We would encourage you to pay by card.
We know that the cost of coming to college can be a barrier for some people. We have two Learner Support Funds, which help people who are eligible.
If you are 16-18 you will be sent an email at the beginning of August to access your Learner Hub account and complete your ‘get ready for college’ information.
Enrolment takes place between Friday 22 and Friday 29 August. Different courses and subjects enrol on different days. We will send you an invitation to enrol for your course.
Before you come into college
Go into your Learner Hub account and upload your:
GCSE and other results
proof of ID (such as a passport, birth certificate)
a photo to use on your ID badge.
When you come to college:
a tutor will check your results and make sure that you are enrolling on the best course for you.
they will give you a student handbook and tell you when you need to come back for your first day at college
you will be given your ID card
make any payment through the Learner Hub (or by card)
we give you a timetable.
If you don’t come to enrol on the day and time invited, we will try to contact you to arrange an alternative day/time. You can also complete your enrolment on Super Saturday.
We will email and write to you to let you know which day and time you need to come into college to complete your enrolment. Please bring the letter or email with you when you come in.
You will be sent details to access your Learner Hub account between July and August. We will be sending out invites to access the Hub in waves. Please only contact us you haven’t heard from us by 20 August.
Enrolment for most adults takes place between Friday 1 and Wednesday 20 August.
You will be invited to complete your enrolment online. Once this is done, we will let you know when you need to come into college for your first class. We will also tell you if there is any equipment or specialist clothing you need while at college.
Once we’ve confirmed your place, we’ll let you know by email if you need to make any payments for kit or equipment. The email will be from enrol@leicestercollege.ac.uk. Please check your spam or junk folders if you haven’t seen the email.
If you're 19 or older and waiting for your GCSE or other exam results, you'll get an invite to enrol online once you have them.
If you’re 19 or above and signing up for a programme for all ages, you will be invited to the college to complete your enrolment. This will be between 22 and 29 August, along with the 16-18 year olds.
If you are on a two-year course, such as a T level, then you don’t need to re-enrol. If you are moving from, for example, a level 2 programme to a level 3, then you will need to re-enrol.
We will send you details to re-enrol if you need to during the summer break. There is no need to contact us.
If you have a reserve offer to study with us, we’ll get in touch with you week ending 29 August. We do this after enrolling students with firm conditional offers. If we have places available, we will invite you to enrol. If places are not available on your chosen course, we can talk to you about other options.
If you are new to Leicester College, you should enrol as instructed above. If you miss your slot don’t worry, you can come along to Super Saturday, on 30 August. Freemen’s Park Campus will be open from 9am to 3pm for anyone who wants to complete their enrolment.
Anyone applied after 1 August or hasn’t applied yet can come along on Walk-in Wednesday. You will be able to apply and enrol in one go (subject to course availability).
We have two Learner Support Funds to help support students who may find it difficult to come to college without some financial support. One is for students aged 16-18 when they start their course. The other is for adults who are 19 or older when they start their course.
Both funds are means-tested: you may be eligible if your maximum household income is no more than £33,000 per year. Or if you are a single student or in a single parent household earn no more than £25,000 per year.
The money in both funds is limited and allocated on a first come, first served basis. Apply as soon as you can.
If you are on a two-year programme (for example a T level) you don’t need to do anything. You are already enrolled on your course and don’t need to re-enrol.
If you are continuing from one programme to another, for example moving from level 2 to level 3, or progressing from a BTEC Diploma to a BTEC Extended Diploma, you will need to re-enrol. We will send you details during the summer break to tell you how to do this and let you know if there are any fees that you will need to pay.
We have a team of specialist and independent careers advisors. They will talk to you about your options. You don’t have to be a student to speak to our careers advisors and the service is offered to people of all ages.
Our careers team run a drop-in service during the enrolment period. You can get careers advice and guidance by going to any of our campuses on weekdays between 9am and 4pm.
Even if you don’t get the grades which you were predicted, you should still complete your enrolment. Depending on your grades you may still be able to join the course you applied for.
Alternatively, we may suggest a different course. We will be in touch to discuss your options, and our careers advisors will be available also.
To secure a place, even if not your first-choice course, you must complete your enrolment. We will manage any transfer to a different course/level for you.
If you have successfully enrolled on one course but need to enrol on another course, please speak to your tutor. You will be given these details when you enrol. Please do not submit another application.
