Carpenters work with wood on building sites or in customers' homes to fit or repair doors, window frames, staircases, floorboards, cupboards, roof trusses and partitions. They use traditional woodworking tools as well as specialised power or hand tools for cutting, shaping, smoothing and finishing. Once completed you can progress on to level 3 Advanced. An apprenticeship is a job with training. You will be employed at least 30 hours a week, with 80% of your working hours in your day-to-day role, and the remaining 20% of your time engaged in training or study.
