Summary
The Apprentice Welder Fabricator will be trained in fabricating and welding metal for the quarrying industry and will be expected to become proficient in welding raw steel components using propane, MEA (manual electric arc) and MIG (metal inert gas).

Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
Working within the Fabrication Shop the apprentice welder fabricator will be required to:
- Read and understand and follow engineering drawings.
- Work to engineering tolerances
- Use the most suitable welding method for the job in hand
- Use various hand and power tools (grinders, cutting torches, hand files, hammer)
- Inspect and test cuts and joins, through the use of a variety of measuring equipment, micrometers etc.
In addition to leaning the skills of a welder fabricator you may also be crossed trained in the use of a Plasma Machine.
