Apprentice Bricklayer - PHOENIX BRICKWORK (UK) LIMITED x2 positions

Phoenix Brickwork seeks a motivated bricklaying apprentice to start a career in construction while gaining hands-on experience with skilled bricklayers and pursue a Level 2 Bricklayer Apprenticeship. The successful candidate will gain experience on large-scale commercial projects and develop practical bricklaying skills. 

Working week
Monday-Friday Typically 7:30am – 4:30pm. This can change dependent on site

What will the apprentice be doing?

• Learn and develop core bricklaying skills, including laying bricks and blocks, mixing mortar and setting out work

• Assist experience bricklayers with day to day

• Develop an understanding of drawings, specifications and construction methods

• Learn how to use bricklaying tools and equipment safely and correctly

• Prepare and handle materials

• Maintain a tidy, clean and safe work area

• Follow site health and safety requirements at all times

• Work effectively alongside bricklayers, supervisors and other trades

• Attend college and complete the required apprenticeship training and assessments

An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying. This successful apprentice will work with the team five days each week and 1 week every 5 - 6 weeks they will attend Leicester College at Freemen's Park Campus.

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

• English (grade 1 or equivalent)

• Maths (grade 1 or equivalent)

After this apprenticeship

Following successful completion of the apprenticeship, apprentices will typically progress into an Improver role for approximately one year. This provides further hands-on experience and development, allowing them to build confidence, improve their skills and gain additional experience working on commercial construction projects.

Following this period of continued development, the aim is for the individual to progress to a fully qualified bricklayer, subject to successfully meeting the required standards and demonstrating the necessary skills, knowledge and experience.
