DBS ID Information

Student DBS Checks

A number of key forms of ID are needed. Such as passport, drivers’ licence, birth certificate, bank account, child tax credits. Up to five documents could be needed. You need to be over the age of 16 before we can apply for a DBS check. The documents needed will depend on the route you take. Any route you take you must provide minimum 3 documents. You must first try to provide documents from Route 1 first. You must also provide at least five years of continuous address history. Please remember to bring that information to your meeting with the College DBS Team.

Route 1 You must be able to show 3 documents:

  • One document from Group 1 (see below), and

  • Two further documents from either Group 1, or Group 2a or 2b (see below).

  • At least one of the documents must show your current address.

Route 2

If you do not have any of the documents in Group 1, then you must be able to show documents:

  • One document from Group 2a and

  • Two further documents from either Group 2a or 2b

At least one of the documents must show your current address. The College will use an appropriate external ID validation service to check the application if you are over 18.

Route 3

This route can be used only if it is impossible to process your application through Routes 1 or 2.

EEA nationals who’ve been resident in the UK for 5 years or less can’t use the Route 3

For Route 3, you must be able to show five documents:
