Rolling out new IT capabilities
17 April 2026
In 2025, Leicester College was successful in a bid for funding from the Office for Students (OfS) to support a £1 million capital project. The funding is allowing the College to expand its Higher Education (HE) offer and develop additional flexible study modes to attract more students.
Establishing digital classrooms
Computing and Digital is one of the priority sectors identified by Leicester College to be supported by further investment funding of over £346,000.
As part of the OfS funding, the College will benefit from specific IT upgrades at its St Margaret’s Campus including high-performance laptops for Adobe Creative Suite and virtualisation software for cyber security training. An existing room will be specifically refitted as a dedicated networking lab with enhanced connectivity infrastructure.
At the Abbey Park Campus, further rooms will be transformed into IT labs with PCs, collaboration desks and smart screens.
Yvette Sexton, Director of Curriculum, Business, Enterprise, Computer Science, Travel & Hospitality at Leicester College, said: “The funding has been used to upgrade IT facilities and refresh rooms at both campuses. The funding helps us to ensure that all students studying on the HTQ Business, HND Business, HNC Computing, HTQ Computing and Cert HE Enterprise have access to excellent digital classrooms.”
