New exhibition on display by Media Year 2 Students
1 May 2025

Leicester College media students are thrilled to announce an upcoming music exhibition that promises to be a vibrant celebration of creativity and talent. Scheduled for the 30th of April 2025, at Leicester’s Adult Education Centre, (Old Library - Basement Gallery) Belvoir Street, this event will showcase a diverse range of photography, interactive areas, audio-visual work, and opportunities to speak to the students themselves.

Leicester is not just a city on the map of England. It is also a massive multicultural community with diverse audiences who have been on the receiving end of many amazing performances, and no, I am not on about King Charles visiting Narborough Road on a random Saturday of the year. I refer to musical talent such as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Amy Winehouse, Kasabian and other illustrious legends.

Leicester is also the birthplace of some of the biggest hit makers. Consider Mark Morrison, with ‘Return of the Mack’, which to this day is an amazing hit during a sunny day in summertime. John Deacon, another major artist who originated from Leicester. If I say his name, you probably won’t recognise it, but if I mention the band he was in, your mind will be blown as to how an artist who came from Leicester managed to be part of one of the biggest bands in the world, Queen.

Visitors will be able to explore an array of exhibits, including photographs of iconic music venues, faux album covers, and Music Memories. Additionally, we have produced a Behind-the-Scenes documentary and a podcast covering various musical topics, such as the current state of live music. A specially crafted Zine will highlight key moments in Leicester’s music scene, and we have numerous well-researched articles available for those interested in diving deeper into music-related discussions. Show runs until 12th May 2025.
