Leicester College welcomed students collecting their T Level results at its Abbey Park Campus on Thursday 14 August 2025.

Leicester College T Level students achieved an 87 per cent pass rate this year, with 59 per cent of students achieving a merit or distinction.

T Levels are a technical-focused qualification for students who want a vocationally-based qualification and are equivalent to three A Levels. They are a combination of classroom-based learning and hands-on experience with a mandatory industry-based placement of at least 315 hours.

This is the third results day for T Level students and many Leicester College students have already secured job offers or a place on a university course since completing their courses in June.

As one of the first institutions selected for the government's pilot launch of T Levels, Leicester College began offering these innovative technical qualifications in September 2021. Current T Level courses at Leicester College include:

· Onsite Construction, Electrical Installation, and Plumbing and Heating

· Business, Accounting and Finance

· Legal Services

· Marketing

· Computing and Digital Production

· Health and Social Care

· Education and Early years

· Manufacturing and Electrical Engineering

Shabir Ismail, Principal and CEO at Leicester College said: “We are immensely proud of our students who are receiving their T Level results today. These impressive results are a testament to our students’ dedication and hard work, and the outstanding support of our teaching staff. We are also proud to be one of the leading colleges in the country offering T Levels, which combine rigorous academic study with real-world industry experience, and equip students with the skills and confidence to thrive in their future careers or higher education.”

Charles Shipway achieved a Merit grade on his T Level in Business Management. Charles said: “The T Level course has gone very well for me. I’ve been interested in business since I was at secondary school and chose the Business Management T Level as it would give me more of a general idea about the subject.

“I initially started my first year at a different college, but they stopped the course and I was fortunate enough to be able to join the second year at Leicester College. It’s much better here!

“Work experience is a key part of T Levels and I managed to get a placement with

Galliford Try – a UK construction company based in Leicestershire – where I focused on quantity surveying. I’ve had a possible offer of a degree apprenticeship in quantity surveying further work there, depending on my results so will be getting in touch with them now to check.

“I would really recommend T Levels. It’s a different environment, but more balanced with work experience and learning. The teaching at Leicester College is very well organised and they have a very good track record with T Level students.”
