Leicester College Principal awarded OBE in King’s Birthday Honours list

Leicester College Principal, Verity Hancock has been awarded an OBE (Order of the British Empire) for services to further education in the new King’s Birthday Honours.
Verity will receive her award at a Buckingham Palace ceremony later this year.
Verity became Principal of Leicester College in January 2013. Prior to joining the College, she was Executive Director of Capacity and Infrastructure at the Skills Funding Agency. Verity previously held positions with the City and Guilds of London Institute, Training and Enterprise Councils and the Learning and Skills Council (LSC).
Commenting on her award, Verity stated: “I just wanted to say how delighted I am to have been nominated by the Leicester College Governors and to have received the award in the latest King's Birthday Honours list. I'm so grateful to all those colleagues, past and present, who have supported and encouraged me, and made this award possible.”

Verity Hancock will make an expected departure from her role as Principal and CEO of Leicester College this summer. Current acting Principal, Shabir Ismail has been appointed to the position and will officially take up the post on 19 August 2025.
