It can be hard getting your foot on the first rung of the career ladder, or getting back into employment. Leicester College has teamed up with some of the area’s leading employers to host Get Jobwise – a free jobs, apprenticeship and work experience fair – today (Wednesday) 10 May, from 10am-2pm at the Leicester Community Sports Arena.
As well as having the opportunity to meet with employers and apply to real vacancies, visitors will be able to talk to independent careers advisors.
Leicester College’s apprenticeship team will be holding a matching service – to match candidates with current apprenticeship available through the College.
Exhibitors include companies from a range of sectors including Leicester City Council, Nylacast, Dunelm and more.
Get Jobs Wise is Leicester College’s annual career progression event for students and the general public. The aim is for businesses and organisations to promote current job vacancies and other employment or training opportunities and to meet potential employees in an informal setting. This event also provides job seekers and students an opportunity to learn more about different employment sectors and career pathways.
Employability and Enterprise Manager Gemma Jackson said:
“Last year’s event attracted a footfall of 2000 attendees so this is a fantastic opportunity for employers to publicize their business and seek to recruit ideal candidates for current and future job as well as seek training opportunities.
“The event will host a wide range of sector specific businesses and organisations, including recruitment agency LIVE interviews, careers workshops, careers guidance.”
