Investing in Higher Education Construction Facilities
20 May 2026

Leicester College has enhanced its Higher Education Construction provision following funding support from the Office for Students (OfS). The funding is helping to modernise facilities, improve learning environments and align the student experience more closely with industry expectations.
The difference the investment has made
The investment has introduced a wide range of new equipment and resources across the College’s HE Construction provision, including surveying and levelling equipment, total stations, thermal cameras and updated digital technologies used throughout the construction sector. Students now also benefit from upgraded learning spaces, dedicated computer suites, and access to industry-standard software and equipment designed to better reflect current workplace environments.
As part of the improvements, Leicester College has also invested in updated REVIT and CAD software, alongside modern project management and surveying technologies.
Opening doors for progression, skills development and lifelong learning
The funding has supported both full-time and part-time HNC and HND Construction students, as well as Higher Level apprentices, helping learners develop practical and technical skills that directly support progression into employment or further study. The improvements also strengthen progression routes for T Level students looking to move into Higher Education through more flexible pathways.
Alongside supporting existing HE learners, the upgraded facilities also create opportunities for adult learners and professionals seeking to upskill through short courses linked to the College and its growth hub.
Ray Osborn, Programme Lead for HE in Construction at Leicester College, said: “The OfS funding has been incredibly valuable in helping us modernise and strengthen our Higher Education Construction provision. It has helped us to create an environment that better reflects current industry standards and gives students access to the technologies and equipment they will encounter in the workplace.
“This investment not only supports our current HE learners, but also strengthens progression pathways for future students entering Higher Education through T Levels, apprenticeships and flexible adult learning routes.”
