Students at Leicester College have achieved a 100% pass rate on the Accounting AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) Certificate Level 2 course. All 11 adult learners gained a mix of distinction, merit and pass grades to successfully complete the professional course and will all now move on to the Level 3 qualification.
AAT is the world’s leading professional body for accounting technicians, providing internationally recognised accounting and finance qualifications.
The Leicester College course offers a practical approach to accounting. It is aimed at adults aged 19 and over, who have career aspirations to work in accounting, auditing and related areas of accounting.
Rajesh Rughani, AAT Part Time Lecturer at Leicester College said: “AAT is a well-respected and desired accounting qualification by employers in this industry. As such, it enables students to develop their future career in the sector.
“We’re delighted that this latest cohort of adult learners have all been successful in achieving their Level 2 certificate and are staying with us for their Level 3 course.”
Kiyprose Mohideen was one of the successful students on the course. She said: “For me, the course was the next step up from Level 1. From the beginning, the teaching methods were really productive, they encouraged communication, and there was interactivity between the lecturers and the students, and across the group. This relaxed setting helped us all to perform better.
“I believe that better qualifications get you a better job. I’ve been to other colleges but was really impressed with the teaching approach at Leicester College. I also studied bookkeeping here and am now taking an AAT Diploma in Accounting – I wouldn't study anywhere else.”
Shabir Ismail, Principal and CEO at Leicester College commented: “We’re so proud of all of the students and staff involved for this fantastic achievement. With the news that they’re also moving on to the Level 3 qualification, we can see how the AAT course will give them a really strong platform to succeed in the accounting profession.”
David Casey, head of qualifications at AAT said: “AAT qualifications really can change lives. Our purpose is to open access to careers in finance for anyone, regardless of background – the students at Leicester College are a real testament to the value and power of vocational qualifications in preparing individuals for the world of work and building fulfilling careers. It’s great to see them progressing to the next level in their studies, and wish them every success.”
