For International Foundation Programmes, English language competence to IELTS 5.5 (with a minimum band score for writing of 5.0 and no more than one component at 5.0) is required. Mandatory English language (ESOL) development and support is part of our International Foundation Programmes and is intended to increase a student’s IELTS score to at least 6.5 level by the end of the programme.

The discipline areas covered by our International Foundation Programmes are Business; Computing; Engineering; Humanities and Social Science; Science; Sport; Travel, Tourism and Hospitality; and Health Professions.

Students completing our International Foundation Programmes will be entitled to automatic progression to a related De Montfort University undergraduate (Bachelor’s degree) programme, subject to achieving the minimum required English language levels for university entry.

De Montfort University also offers a number of fee reduction scholarships specifically to Leicester College International Foundation Programme students progressing onto its undergraduate courses.
