Stand Out and Secure Your Next Opportunity

Applying for jobs can be competitive, and knowing how to complete a strong and effective job application can make all the difference when it comes to securing an interview.

Join us at Leicester College for an interactive and practical Job Application Skills Workshop, designed to help you develop the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to complete successful job applications and demonstrate to employers why you are the right person for the role.

During this interactive workshop, we will explore the key stages of the job application process and how to make your application stand out for the right reasons.

Topics will include:

  • How employers assess applications: Gain an understanding of what employers and recruiters look for when reviewing application forms and how they decide which candidates progress to interview.

  • Understanding job descriptions and person specifications: Learn how to interpret the requirements of a role, identify essential and desirable criteria, and understand what an employer is really looking for.

  • Identifying and evidencing your skills and experience: Discover how to recognise your strengths, transferable skills and relevant experience, and demonstrate these effectively in your application.

  • Writing strong supporting statements: Explore how to structure clear, relevant and persuasive supporting statements that highlight your suitability for a particular opportunity.

  • Answering application questions effectively: Learn how to provide focused, detailed answers that demonstrate your abilities and give employers meaningful examples of what you can bring to a role.

  • Common application mistakes: Understand some of the most frequent mistakes applicants make and how to avoid them to ensure your application is professional, accurate and relevant.

This workshop is suitable for anyone who wants to improve their job application skills and feel more confident when applying for employment opportunities.

You can expect an engaging and informative session that focuses on developing practical skills you can use throughout your job search.

You will gain a better understanding of how employers evaluate applications, how to communicate your skills and experience effectively, and how to make sure your answers address the requirements of the role.

By the end of the session, you should feel more confident in approaching job applications, identifying what employers want and presenting yourself as a strong candidate.

Please note: This workshop is a learning and development session, not a job application writing service. We will not be completing application forms, writing supporting statements or producing individual application answers for attendees. Instead, the session focuses on equipping you with the knowledge, tools and practical skills to complete and tailor your own job applications independently.
