Performing Arts Shows

Blackout

Tuesday 19 May 2026, 7 pm

Abbey Park Campus

Directed by Robin Winterton

Written by Davey Anderson for the Royal National Theatre’s NT Connections, this gripping play tells the true story of a 15-year-old boy facing an attempted murder charge. As he pieces together his past, we witness his descent into a world of violence, drink, and drugs after a life-changing loss.

This production is brought to you by students on Acting L2 Diploma. Expect a powerful and intense performance.

⚠️ Contains adult themes, strong language, and sensitive scenes. Recommended for ages 16+.

Odyssey - A Journey into Ourselves

Join us for a vibrant evening of dance that celebrates energy, artistry and human connection. 

In Act 1, embark on an exhilarating journey through ballet, contemporary, tap, jazz and commercial dance. These dynamic, uplifting works showcase the versatility and passion of our dancers - bursting with colour, rhythm and joyful creativity. 

In Act 2, the mood shifts as our performers unveil Under the Skin - a dark, atmospheric and thought‑provoking full‑length contemporary piece. Exploring the human body and the mysteries that lie beneath, this powerful work invites us all to look deeper and begin a journey into ourselves.

Beautiful - The Carole King Musical

Join us for a Beautiful evening celebrating the extraordinary true story of Carole King’s rise from teenage songwriter to one of the most iconic voices in music history. Follow her journey with husband and writing partner Gerry Goffin, her lifelong friendship with Cynthia Weil and Barry Mann, and the creation of timeless songs that defined a generation. Featuring classics including You Make Me Feel Like a Natural Woman, You’ve Got a Friend, So Far Away, Up on the Roof, Locomotion and many more.

Macbeth

Every Wednesday evening, Jimmy calls Kitty. For precisely nine minutes. At £1.20 a minute. 

Jimmy is thirty-four, lives with his mum and works at Newport's only drive-through doughnut restaurant. Kitty is an adult chatline operator, living in the granny flat of a topiary enthusiast. Things were looking up for Jimmy, but then he loses his job and he begins to disappear, starting with his hands. 

Will this unlikely duo succeed in turning each other's world upside down?

Exhibits from our Level 2 and Level 3 Make-up Artistry and FdA Artistic Make-up and Special effects. Which includes portfolio images of fashion and photographic, Historical character, Period hair and make-up, Fantasy body painting, Special effects and Prosthetics for performance and media.

Creative Media Showcase

Join us for a night of inspiring student work, showcasing the best of our level 3 courses!

Be the first to see the world premiere of our 2nd Year TV and Film short feature, alongside an exciting mix of short films, music videos, documentaries, and promotional films created for real clients.

Explore more experimental video art, photography, podcasting, and design will be on display in the mezzanine throughout the evening.

There is free entry into this showcase, and it is open to the public for viewing.

Creative Arts, Graphics and Photography End of Year Showcase

St Margaret’s Campus

Come and join us to celebrate our art and design, graphic design and photography end of year showcase. This is an opportunity to experience and celebrate the quality and diversity of student work created by students on our level 1, 2 and 3 courses.

There is free entry into this showcase, and it is open to the public for viewing. There is a private viewing on Wednesday 25 June, 6 - 8 pm.

A live catwalk event and showcase of the Fashion and Textiles work from our Fashion and Footwear students. A true celebration of student achievement which offers unique and diverse fashion collections, inspired by a wide range of themes. Final collections are an accumulation of the specialist skills developed during the course - from design through to final garments.

Tickets are £3.50 and available to purchase from the fashion department.

Creative Media, TV and Film - Final Show

Join us for a night of creativity and inspiration. Our talented L3 students will showcase their hard work and passion through various media and film projects. Don't miss out on this opportunity to witness the next generation of filmmakers and media professionals shine on stage. Get ready for an unforgettable evening filled with stories that will captivate and entertain you. On the big screen, you will see short films, music videos, documentaries and more.

There will also be an opportunity to enjoy the many other types of media our students have created this year, including photography, graphics, podcasts and articles.

Immersive Media

National Space Centre

To celebrate the projects and accomplishments of the Immersive Academy Students this year, the National Space Centre is opening the gallery and planetarium to allow students to showcase their work. Each student will be allocated space and planetarium dome time to showcase their portfolio and favourite pieces of work produced this year.
