Hobby and Interest Courses

Overview

We offer a variety of part-time hobby and interest courses in the daytime and evenings for learners’ enjoyment and career progression. So whether you’re interested in dancing, ceramics, or learning to create a perfect up do with our talented hairdressing staff, we have something for you. Some courses are even free or offered at minimal cost, and range from short master classes held on one day to in-depth programmes which are taught over several weeks or more.

Who are Leicester College’s Hobby and Interest Courses For?

You will have to be at least 16 to take most of the courses, but generally courses don’t require previous qualifications or experience- just a genuine interest in the subject. We offer practical courses in subjects such as computing, business, DIY, and first aid, but many of the courses are more for your personal interest and enjoyment. You can take evening classes in creative fields such as photography, jewellery making, garment making, pattern cutting, cake decorating, and more. You can also learn professional skills such as how to develop a mobile app, using Dreamweaver, or food safety.

Further Information

Evening courses can offer the chance to build up a portfolio of work if you’re considering applying for a higher-level course in art, photography, or another creative subject. Some courses can also give you skills you need to progress in your current employment, or can simply offer you a taste of an interesting new subject – such as mehndi, pop music history, or sugarcrafts.
