This course runs at St Margaret's campus each Wednesday from 1pm - 4pm for 7 weeks, starting on 29th January and ending on 19th March 2025.
This seven-week course aims to introduce and advance your skills using traditional and contemporary hand embroidery.
This course aims to introduce you or advance your skills using traditional and contemporary ‘Folk Art’ embroidery.
This course is suitable for beginners or advancing your knowledge of embroidery in a creative way.
You will be encouraged and guided to explore a range of stitched, fabrics and techniques using the theme of Folk Art.
You will aim to develop your skills and to apply them to a final decorative picture/panel.
Running stitch family
Herringbone stitch family
Chain stitch family
Buttonhole stitch family
Fly and Feather stitch family
Knot and Spot stitch family
You will produce a range of samples and learn how to combine the different stitches in the folk-art style.
Designing and producing a final picture/panel.
This course is suitable for beginners or advancing your knowledge of embroidery in a creative way.

No previous experience is necessary, just an interest in the subject.

This course is designed to provide you with the knowledge and skills to progress onto other areas of practical crafts. You will have opportunities to progress onto further courses, or you may wish to take your experience forward into designing and producing your own work at home, utilising the skills you have developed.
Apply online via the College website. You will be contacted to attend an interview if required, or you will be sent a conditional offer according to the entry requirements for the course. You will then be invited in to enrol for your chosen course of study. Once you have decided to take the course, you need to fill in a short learner details form online and pay the course fee. Once you have done this, you will receive an electronic confirmation of enrolment and payment.
