Photography and Video Courses

Photography, video and media

We have an impressive range of video and photography courses, ranging from evening and part time workshops to foundation degrees. Our excellent facilities include video and sound editing workshops, industry-standard studios and an array of dark rooms to ensure learners get a hands-on understanding of professional tools and technologies.

Courses are available from entry level through to university level. We have extensive links with industry to help you network and gain industry experiences.

Who are the video and photography courses for?

The higher-level courses (such as the foundation degree) are designed for learners who already have a portfolio of work and some photography/video experience, while our part-time courses at all levels can be fitted around work or other commitments. We also offer a broad range of full-time courses at levels 2 and 3 which are suitable for school leavers as well as adults. For adult learners wishing to join a course, you may be offered an interview and your previous experience can be taken into account if you don’t meet the standard entry requirements. Learners aged 16-19 will follow a study programme which will include GCSE or functional skills English and maths if you don’t already have your grade 4 (C).

Further Information

Work experience will form part of your full-time course. These courses are generally assessed on the work you do on an ongoing basis rather than via traditional exams. You may need to buy some special equipment for some courses, and higher level courses often require a portfolio of work which you will show the tutors at interview. Courses often involve trips to galleries, museums and exhibitions. Some learners also enter competitions.
