Launch Pad courses are especially designed for young people who want to re-engage with education or build their confidence before applying for further college courses, apprenticeships, or work. Inductions are held around every six weeks throughout the year, so it’s never the wrong time to apply! While on the course, you’ll study essential skills such as English and maths; personal and social development; employability skills; money management; enterprise; domestic cooking; healthy lifestyles; and have access to an extensive careers programme.
Who are Leicester College’s launch pad courses for?
If you left school without the qualifications you need for your next step, launch pad could be right for you. Launch Pad is designed specifically for 16-18 year olds, so everyone will be the same age as you. The programme you study will be tailored personally to your needs, and launch Pad courses take place over three or four days a week for up to a year (sometimes learners are ready to move on after a shorter time than this, but it depends on your requirements and goals). There’s 1:1 support if you need it and everyone on the course gets a key worker and a mentor, meaning that there’s guidance available every step of the way.
When you finish Launch Pad, you will be given support to help you move on – many learners decide that they want to stay on with us and take a course in another curriculum area, such as health and social care, construction, or hairdressing. Work experience placements are also organised when you are ready. Whatever you want to do next, we can help you achieve it.

Tamanna enrolled at Launch Pad and worked hard to achieve her Functional Skills level 2 in maths and English.
She also completed work experience which gave her valuable employability skills and increased her confidence, so much so that she then went on to study Creative Media at level 2, and Art and Design at level 3 at Leicester College, before moving on to study a degree in Photography and Media at De Montfort University. Tamanna said; "Launch Pad helped me to start my career. I needed the encouragement to complete Functional Skills within a year."Read More
