Computing

With technology developing at such an incredible pace, and the need for digital skills becoming ever more important, the IT sector really is an exciting, vibrant and rewarding industry to work in.

Our computing and IT courses will give you the skills, knowledge and training required to enter the workplace as an IT professional or to progress into a computing-related higher education course. In the world of IT, the possibilities are truly endless.

Who are Leicester College's computing courses for?

We offer courses for complete beginners to those with more experience with courses starting at entry level right through to a level 5 qualification. If you are aged 16 to 19 and don’t yet have your English and maths at grade 4 (C) or above, these subjects will be an essential part of your study programme. All courses are designed to give you the skills and knowledge needed to work in the computing industry.

At entry level you will be introduced to essential IT skills including word processing, spreadsheets, graphics software and how to get the best out of the internet. There is also a large element of essential English and maths skills. We offer a range of level 3 courses from games development, networking, a general diploma and even an Access course for adult learners who want to go to university. The highest qualification we offer is our level 5 Computing Higher National Diploma. This course covers a range of skills around current IT technologies related to wed and multimedia, as well as an overview of computer architecture, systems development, programming and databases.
