Our full-time brickwork and plastering courses are taught at levels 1 and 2. There are also opportunities to complete an intermediate or advanced apprenticeship in brickwork, plastering, or dry lining – allowing you to earn money while working with an employer and gaining your professional qualifications with us. From basic skills in brickwork and plastering (such as health, safety and welfare in construction and developing hand skills) to more professional skills, learners often progress up through our courses before entering the workforce. It’s also possible after this to progress to a level 3 National Diploma before undertaking a level 4 or 5 (university level) Higher National Certificate/Diploma in Construction and the Built Environment.
Brickwork and Plastering
Who are Leicester College’s brickwork and plastering courses for?
Our brickwork and plastering courses are suitable for both school leavers as well as adult learners that have some experience in the industry already. The appropriate level for you will be decided based on your prior qualifications, work experience and age. Many learners stay with us for two or more years to develop their skills to the required level for employment. If you are aged 16 to 18 and don’t yet have your English and maths at grade 4 (C) or above, these subjects will continue to be an essential part of your study programme. All courses are designed to give you the skills and knowledge needed to enter work at a professional level.
Further Information
Work experience will form an essential part of your course. You will be required to purchase personal protective equipment, a toolkit, technical drawing equipment and stationery. Site visits and trips to trade shows form part of the vocational enrichment of the course. All courses involve a mixture of practical and theoretical assessment. You will pass the course by demonstrating your skills both in exams as well as in your practical work.
