This course is for adults aged 19+. Are you looking to develop your industry skills and knowledge in Pattern Cutting and garment manufacture? This seven-week course gives you the opportunity to use a wide range of industrial equipment to develop your skills, draft a pattern and produce a garment using professional techniques. Intended as a part-time hobby course you may feel inspired towards a new career path or other part time courses we offer at the college.
As part of the course you will be introduced to a range of industrial equipment, pattern cutting techniques and pattern development associated with the garment construction.
You will have the opportunity to select and work on a garment of your own choice or design, utilising basic pattern blocks for dresses, trousers, skirts and tops covering woven and knitted fabrics.
Additionally, health and safety in the workshop will also be covered.
An interest in industry or amateur garment construction, sampling or pattern cutting.
Completion of the Pattern Cutting for Beginners C6017 would be advantageous.

This course will progress and lead to pattern cutting 2.The course provides a solid grounding in understanding the basics of pattern cutting and garment construction. This course can lead to further pattern cutting and construction courses for a range of different garments or materials on part-time courses as offered throughout the year by the College.
There are a range of other short courses offered at Leicester College such as laser cutting, printmaking, ceramics, jewellery, and photography which may inspire you to continue studying on a part-time basis.
Apply online via the College website. You will be contacted to attend an interview if required, or you will be sent a conditional offer according to the entry requirements for the course. You will then be invited in to enrol for your chosen course of study. For enrol and pay courses: Once you have decided to take the course, you need to fill in a short learner details form online and pay the course fee. Once you have done this, you will receive an electronic confirmation of enrolment and payment.
