Leicester College is famous for its excellence in digital photography, printing, design, and online editing. Students enjoy access to professional studios, darkrooms, and digital editing suites. Experienced lecturers and supervisors support this learning. The course runs at St Margaret’s Campus on Thursdays from 6 to 9 pm for 7 weeks. It is open to adults aged 19 and over.
This workshop aims to build your confidence using a film camera. You will learn the basics of your camera as well as an introduction into developing your roll of film and images in the darkroom. You will need your own film camera in 35mm format and rolls of film. We can adapt delivery to different makes and types.
No formal qualifications required, however, you must have DSLR or Film camera experience and or completed the previous Digital Photography Short course. A keen interest in photography is essential.
An SD card and your Film Camera is required. The Department has its own stock of film cameras that can be used during session time. You will need to purchase film and paper during the 7 week programme.
The area has processing, developer and printing facilities in a substantial specialist darkroom facility.
The area supplies film and photographic paper at a cost of £22.50 for all the course activities.
After the Film course, you could move on to other options at the College.
You might try a Higher National Certificate in photography or other digital courses. There are also classes in Adobe Photoshop (beginner and advanced), as well as Digital, Studio, and other photography courses.
We also have a dedicated, independent careers team who can provide information, advice, and guidance on your next steps.
Apply online via the College website. You will be contacted to come into College if required, or you will be sent a conditional offer according to the entry requirements for the course. You will then be invited in to enrol for your chosen course of study. For enrol and pay courses: Once you have decided to take the course, you need to fill in a short student details form online and pay the course fee. Once you have done this, you will receive an electronic confirmation of enrolment and payment.
