Learn the basics of digital design with our Adobe Illustrator course. This course is for adults aged 19 and over and is a fun, creative way to start using vector graphics. You’ll find out how to use Illustrator’s tools, explore its interface, and create designs like logos, infographics, website graphics, maps, and other artwork.
This course is great if you want to return to learning, gain confidence, or get ready for further study or work in a creative job. You’ll learn new skills in a friendly and supportive environment.
The course runs for 7 weeks on Wednesday evenings from 6–9 PM at St Margaret’s Campus.
You will learn the setup, interface, and basic tools. These include layers, formatting, and different pen tools. Once you have successfully learned these skills, we will cover some advanced features.
You will create simple shapes and logo elements. Then, build them into compositions. You will also learn about anchor points, control handles, stroke, and fill. You will study the pen tool and some advanced shape and pathfinder features.
There are no formal entry requirements for this course but it's advantageous if you have a keen interest in graphics and the use of vector graphics.
- Annual Tuition fee: £75
There are no additional costs apart from an online cloud account or memory stick to store personal work.
This course will help boost your confidence and support your health and well-being. It can also open the door to more online design courses, like advanced Illustrator, or even part-time degrees and freelance work in design. This is an attendance-only course and does not give a formal qualification. You can also explore other part-time courses, including Adobe InDesign and Adobe Photoshop.
After finishing the course, you can get advice about your next steps from one of the College’s independent career advisors.
Please apply on the College website. You will be contacted to attend an interview if required, or you will be sent a conditional offer according to the entry requirements for the course. You will then be invited in to enrol for your chosen course of study. For enrol and pay courses: Once you have decided to take the course, you need to fill in a short learner details form online and pay the course fee. Once you have done this, you will receive an electronic confirmation of enrolment and payment.
