Pathway to Tomorrow is a direct payment day service in Leicester College designed for young people aged 16–29 who want to continue developing the skills they gained during their education as they move into adulthood. It operates from Leicester College’s Freemen’s Park Campus.
The service offers a personalised, interest‑based programme focused on building independence, confidence, social skills and practical life skills. Its aim is to provide a supportive, engaging environment where young people can maintain and extend the abilities they developed in school or college, while also enjoying meaningful leisure and community experiences.
Activities are varied and tailored to individual needs and preferences. They may include: Accessing and navigating the local community, Shopping and cooking, Dance, music, drama, and other creative arts, Sports, games, fitness, and wellbeing activities, Relaxation sessions and opportunities to develop social connections.
Every day is structured to help participants grow socially, emotionally and practically. The programme is designed to be fun and empowering, enabling clients to meet new people, enjoy new experiences and develop skills that support greater independence.
We focus on developing independence, social skills, confidence and practical life skills through personalised, interest‑based activities such as community access, shopping and cooking, creative arts, sports and relaxation; although we operate within Leicester College’s campus, it is not an educational or teaching provision and does not require college enrolment, as its purpose is to provide meaningful, supportive day‑service experiences rather than formal lessons or qualifications.
Pathway to Tomorrow has very simple entry requirements. It is open to young people, with inclusion needs, aged 16–29 who want to continue developing independence and life skills through day‑service activities.
Pathway to Tomorrow is not a free service. Clients can pay directly or undergo a social worker-led assessment to determine eligibility and financial contribution, with costs typically starting at around £80 per day, depending on individual needs
Progression from Pathway to Tomorrow at age 29 typically involves moving on to adult services that continue to support independence, wellbeing, and community participation. Since Pathway to Tomorrow is designed specifically for young people aged 16–29, clients will need to transition to an alternative day service, community‑based programme, or adult‑social‑care provision once they reach the upper age limit.
