This seven week course runs from Monday 23 February to Monday 20 April, 9.30am–12.30pm, at St. Margaret’s Campus. It introduces and develops essential fashion skills, from pattern cutting to garment construction. You will learn to draft basic patterns, explore shape development, and progress to more complex techniques while building industry-standard construction skills. The course also covers relevant tools, equipment, and processes, supporting confidence, well-being, and progression into further learning or employment.
This course builds on Progressive Pattern Cutting 1, developing existing skills through creative pattern cutting and garment construction. Learners will refine core techniques, gain confidence, and prepare for further study or future employment while supporting health and wellbeing.
Over seven weeks, you will explore pattern cutting and garment construction tailored to specific product types. The syllabus includes drafting and adapting basic pattern blocks, materials and measurements, design development, product construction, industry-standard equipment, and health and safety in the workshop.
This course is designed for those who have completed from Progressive Pattern Cutting 1 skills and suitable for those students who have previous Pattern Cutting/garment manufacturing experience.

This course is designed to enable a return to education and prepare for further learning or employment, building your confidence, support your health and wellbeing, whilst learning and developing new skills. You will have opportunities to progress onto further higher-level courses, or you may wish to take your experience forward into a new career.
Apply online via the College website. You will be contacted to come into College if required, or you will be sent a conditional offer according to the entry requirements for the course. You will then be invited in to enrol for your chosen course of study. For enrol and pay courses: Once you have decided to take the course, you need to fill in a short student details form online and pay the course fee. Once you have done this, you will receive an electronic confirmation of enrolment and payment.
