Are you interested in understanding mental health and wellbeing? This is a great course for you if you're working in a sector where you deal with vulnerable people. Can't come into College? Not to worry, you can study from home via our distance learning online learning platform. There is no need to attend College meaning you can balance your study and development around your other commitments. Tutor support is always available via phone or email and robust feedback and developmental points will be given throughout.
The qualification consists of the following mandatory units:
Understanding the context of mental health and well being
Promotion of mental health and well being
Mental health problems: associated issues and consequences
Understanding mental ill-health
Working in mental health
You will study social views, how the political landscape has changed, and the roles of professionals who provide mental health services. This is a great follow on course from the level 2 Certificate in the Awareness of Mental Health.
You must be over 19.
During the application process, you are asked the following: Please describe why you have chosen this course and what you hope to gain from completing it. Please include anything you already know regarding the subject. This helps us check this is the right course at the right level for you. We also need to confirm that you haven't completed the qualification, or similar, before. This is for funding purposes.
We ask for a description, for this you must write in full sentences, we would expect around 2 paragraphs.
If you do not meet the required standard, we will give you a second opportunity to answer the question. If the required standard is still not met, we will sign post you to our careers team for advice and guidance.
If you are not a British Citizen, you may have to complete a Right to Study Assessment, or provide a Share Code, to ensure you qualify for government funding. We cannot fund you if you live in a Devolved Area. Funding restrictions apply, please see additional cost section.
We are unable to grant extensions on Unit 1, please only apply to do this course if you are ready to start it now and have time available.

To qualify for funding earnings must be below the earning threshold of £26,800.00 before tax.
Alternatively, the cost of the course is £1,587.60.
We have a huge choice of distance learning courses available at both levels 2 and 3. At the end of your course, your tutor may suggest a suitable option for you or you can contact the distance learning team to advise you on the courses available. We also have a careers team available via phone email or in person who can help to plan a career pathway for you.
Apply online via the College website. You will then be invited to enrol for your chosen course of study. You can apply at any point throughout the year and start the course when you like.
